Week of October 24

It was WPIAL playoff week for our teams. The North Allegheny boys team played a very competitive game against Kiski on Monday evening. It was a disappointing loss in overtime. The North Allegheny girls team played against Seneca Valley on Wednesday. North Allegheny scored 5 times in eighty minutes, defeating the second-seeded Raiders, 5-1. The Penn Trafford girls team defeated Canon-Mac with a final score of 1-0. Both teams are moving on to the next round of playoffs. Congratulations to newlyweds Gina and Lawrence Powers, who were married on Friday. It was a lovely ceremony at St. Thomas Episcopal church in Oakmont, with the reception following at Riverside Landing.

Week of October 10

Our Penn Trafford field hockey seniors were honored in a special ceremony with their parents before the game on Monday evening.  The girls went on to play an awesome game against Greensburg Salem and won 8-1.  Great job girls!  The JV field hockey team also won that night with a final score of 2-0.   The North Allegheny girls played a very exciting game, also on Monday, against Shaler.  Maddie Layman scored the game winning goal with just 5 seconds left in the second overtime. The final score was 3-2.  The N.A. girls clinched a playoff spot that night.  Way to go Lady Tigers!  The North Allegheny boys team won against Butler on Tuesday night.  This was a must win game to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Phil Fives scored a pair of goals for the Tigers.  The final score was 3-1.  The Penn Trafford boys team played Kiski, the conference leader, on Tuesday night and the game ended in a tie.  The JV team also played a good game.  The Pine Richland boys soccer team also honored their seniors this week in a ceremony before Tuesday’s game again North Hills.  The Rams played a very competitive game, but after a double overtime,  ended up in a tied game.  The North Allegheny Lady Tigers had their senior night on Wednesday evening.  They played a wonderful game against Erie McDowell on a soggy, wet senior night.  The girls won 8-1.  We had a fun time interviewing the North Allegheny senior girls for their highlight video on Thursday afternoon.  The Penn Trafford boys team played at Norwin on Thursday and lost a tough game.  Our final games of the week were on Saturday at Warrior stadium.  Both the girls and the boys teams honored their seniors.  The girls won against Gateway with a final score of 3-0 and the boys won, with a final score of 4-2.  Great job to all of our teams this week and congratulations to all of the seniors!
